SSSH presents its demands to political parties in election campaign

ZAGREB, Sept 14 (Hina) - The SSSH trade union federation will put seven questions to political parties in the election campaign and the union federation's support will depend on their answers, SSSH leader Mladen Novosel said at a news conference on Wednesday.

The SSSH insists on a new economic and social policy so that the problems of insolvency, late wages and contributions be solved and the practice of undeclared work stopped.

It also insists on an increase of the minimum wage from the current 35% of the average monthly wage to 50%.

The SSSH also proposes an increase in taxes on property and extra profit and a decrease in taxes on labour and consumption.

The trade union federation pushes for overhauling the pension scheme and changing the so-called Swiss model for pension indexation and for annulling privileged pensions.

Novosel said that today's presentation of SSSH demands meant the end of the joint platform promoted by five trade union federations this spring.
