ZAGREB, Nov 26 (Hina) - The Committee for Election, Appointment and
Administrative Affairs of the Sabor's House of Representatives on
Thursday decided to forward materials with a list of resignations
of 37 MPs to the Parliament's Presidency.
The Sabor's Presidency should discuss the materials and decide
whether they should be included in the parliamentary agenda and if
so, on what date.
The decision of Opposition MPs not to take part in the work of
working bodies will affect the work of the House of Representatives
and it is a politically important topic which should be discussed by
the Parliament Presidency, said the Committee's president Franjo
Greguric.
In a short discussion, the Committee members assessed that the
resignation is an individual act and therefore should not be no
discussed by the Committee. They also mentioned that one should
wait for the outcome of the announced meting between
representatives of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and
the bloc of six Opposition parties.
The 37 Opposition MPs submitted their resignations on November 12,
dissatisfied with the marginalisation of the Parliament and its
insufficient role in the political life as well as with the
impossibility of performing their parliamentary functions. Their
discontent culminated after a refusal of their request for the
establishment of a commission of inquiry to probe into the possible
misuse of intelligence services.
