ZAGREB, Nov 17 (Hina) - The Croatian Union of Associations of Killed
Homeland War Defenders on Tuesday expressed its concern at the
boycott of a number of MPs in working bodies of the Croatian
parliament.
Union representatives forwarded a letter to Parliament President
Vlatko Pavletic requesting that he receive them to discuss the
matter.
In the letter, the Union stated its "moral right to point out to the
government to be more resolute and stricter in protecting the
homeland, and to start uncompromisingly resolving injustices which
have been committed, in order to restore the shaken trust in the
homeland."
"We parents will not reconcile with anyone undermining our homeland
(...) Everybody, regardless of status, position, or party
belonging, must step down if their strength and fairness (aren't
aimed towards Croatia's interests" the letter said.
The letter comes in the wake of last week's decision by six
opposition party MPs to resign from all parliamentary duties, bar
those as representatives. They also decided to abstain from voting
at parliamentary committee sessions. The 56 MPs will officially
hand in their resignations by Friday. The Croatian parliament has
128 MPs in all.
