PRISTINA, Nov 24 (Hina)- All political representatives of Kosovo
Albanians agree that Belgrade's latest proposal for the resolution
of the Kosovo problem and negotiations with Kosovo Albanians were
meant to mislead both them and the international community.
Deputy president of the largest Albanian political party, the
Democratic Alliance of Kosovo, Koly Berisha told Hina that
"Serbia's flippant approach to Kosovo will certainly facilitate a
final secession of Kosovo from Serbia and Yugoslavia".
Kosovo Albanians will accept a plan by the US envoy Christopher Hill
(envisaging a high degree of autonomy), but provided that it
incorporates their demand for a plebiscite on self-determination
within the next 3-5 years, which has been adamantly rejected by
Serbia. Hence, the Kosovo Albanians are already aware of the fact
that for them there can be no other solution but the definite
secession. Serbia's moves are only streamlining that process,
Berisha said.
Kosovo Albanians cannot accept Serbia's proposal because it treats
them as a minority and envisages Serbia's competence over Kosovo.
However, they do not want the status of a province within Serbia but
that of a federal unit in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, the
same as that of Serbia and Montenegro.
