PULA, Nov 22 (Hina) - Istra County Assembly President Damir Kajin on
Sunday most harshly condemned the removal of a Croatian flag from a
public building in the village of Bijela Zemlja.
"Knowing the mentality of people in Istria, I'm sure the
perpetrators behind this latest act of vandalism are the same as
those who last week took a flag of the Italian national minority
from the Istra County building in Pazin," said Kajin.
The Italian flag had been removed last week, and the culprits were
found before long.
Kajin believed the Istra County police would be as successful,
expedite, and effective as last week, and that the culprits would be
punished.
It would be a warning to all wishing to divide people in Istria
according to national belonging, he added.
"Such things did not happen either during the fascist terror, or the
time of the Second World War, and will not be tolerated today
either," Kajin said, and announced the events which had been the
cause of recent turmoil in Istra County would be discussed at a
Monday County Assembly session.
