40 FAMILIES HAVE RETURNED TO ALJMAS SO FAR

ALJMAS, Nov 23 (Hina) - About 40 refugee families have returned to Aljmas, in eastern Slavonia, the Osijek-Baranja Returnees Association's committee in Aljmas said on Monday. There are another 15 families living in Aljmas, which still have not been granted the returnee status. Although there are still not enough projects on economic revival in the area, it is believed that Aljmas has the potential for religious and wild game hunting tourism. Speaking about the performance of international organisations in the Danube region, head of the Osijek regional office for displaced people and refugees, Nada Arbanas, said international organisations for legal and psychological and social assistance were the most numerous in the region. On the other hand, associations providing financial help for war victims are less represented and there is a tendency of their departure from the area, she added.
