ERDUT, Nov 9 (Hina) - The Executive Committee of the Osijek-Baranja
County (eastern Croatia) Association of Returnees on Monday's
session concluded that members of the Serb national minority in the
Erdut municipality had to be called on to help shed light on crimes
that had occurred during the Homeland War in the area.
This would help the establishment of confidence and prevent
possible placing of blame on all Serbs, president of the
Association, Josip Kompanovic, said.
The return of displaced persons is being made difficult because of
low job opportunities, bad traffic connections with Osijek and slow
reconstruction of homes, he said.
The municipality should prepare projects for the reconstruction of
Erdut, and call on the international community to assist the
reconstruction more actively.
Members of the Association said they would forward a letter on the
issue to the OSCE mission chief on Croatia, Tim Guldimann, and the
American Ambassador, William Montgomerry.
