VUKOVAR SERBS MARK NOVEMBER 18

VUKOVAR, Nov 18 (Hina) - Representatives of Serbs of the eastern Croatian city of Vukovar on Wednesday held a religious ceremony marking November 18 as the seventh anniversary of the cessation of conflicts in the city. In the presence of several hundred residents and representatives of Serb political institutions in the city and the Croatian Danubian area, as well as representatives of Serb associations from the Homeland War, a Serb Orthodox service "parastos" was held for Serb soldiers and civilians who had died during the attacks of the JNA and Serb paramilitary troops on the city. Representatives of associations from the Homeland War, the city committee of the Independent Democratic Serb Party, Vukovar deputy Mayor Svetislav Ladjarevic and the president of the Vukovar City Council, Marko Cepinja, laid wreaths before the Central Cross at the city cemetery. In a brief statement for reporters, president of the Joint Council of (Danubian) Municipalities, Milos Vojnovic, said such a "religious manifestation is the only possible and justified" way of marking the "cessation of war actions in Vukovar."
