JOINT COUNCIL OF MUNICIPALITIES MEETS FOR SESSION IN VUKOVAR

VUKOVAR, Oct 23 (Hina) - The Joint Council of (Serb-majority) Municipalities (ZVO) on Friday met in Vukovar to discus the current situation in the Croatian Danube River region and questions concerning its status and financing. Members of the ZVO have unanimously agreed that the ZVO represents an institution of permanent character, whose work no one has the right to question, said ZVO president Milos Vojnovic. "The interests of any Serb political organisation or individual cannot be above the interests of the ZVO, which considerably contributes to resolving inter-ethnic problems and advancing the peace process in Croatia", said Vojnovic. The Serb Democratic Independent Party (SDSS) supports all parties, organisations and individuals who work to the benefit of the Serb people in Croatia, said SDSS president and MP Vojislav Stanimirovic. However, this cannot be said for MP Veselin Pejnovic and the Party of the Danube Region Serbs (PSS) and the SDSS is not ready for cooperation with them, said Stanimirovic, commenting on a press conference held by Pejnovic and PSS president Rade Leskovac in Vukovar on October 16.
