ZAGREB, 3 Nov (Hina)- The Croatian Helsinki Committee deems the
Croatian Government and the UNHCR responsible for incidents during
a fair by humanitarian and human rights Non-Governmental
organisations because they did not properly register the event and
organise adequate security service, states HHO.
The HHO warns that two associations of the Homeland War veterans
used unacceptable iconography and music and insulted human rights
NGOs.
The HHO quotes the JUTARNJI LIST daily of November 2 to the effect
that the most serious incident took place on the closing day at the
stall of the Serb Democratic Forum, when one participant was
accused of war crimes and another assaulted.
The Open Society Institute Croatia complained about the incident in
writing to the head of the UNHCR mission in Croatia. The letter
notes that during the preparations for the fair the Institute
warned UNHCR that some NGOs had not been invited and that the
participants should not be allowed to distribute material with
offensive or unacceptable contents.
