ZAGREB, Oct 15 (Hina) - Special Croat envoy for relations with the
Croat-Muslim Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina Franjo Greguric
submitted his irrevocable resignation to Croatian President Franjo
Tudjman on Thursday.
Greguric resigned his post as the special envoy and his post as the
Deputy President of the Main Committee of the ruling Croatian
Democratic Union (HDZ).
The text of Greguric's resignation reads:
"Most respected Mr. President,
Please accept my irrevocable resignation to the post of your envoy
for relations with the B-H Federation in Bosnia-Herzegovina. You,
yourself are aware that I lodged all my efforts and knowledge to
establish economic ties between Croatia and the B-H Federation in
Bosnia-Herzegovina.
We opened the road for cooperation with Republika Srpska as well.
My opinion was and remains, that better economic relations will
enable a better life, new employment opportunities and an existence
from the fruits of one's own labour for our compatriots in Bosnia-
Herzegovina as well as the other peoples - Muslim and Serb nationals
- in Bosnia.
We motivated ties between our businessmen and state-owned
companies to a more ambitious approach to the B-H Federation in
Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The bridge across the Sava river between Zupanja (eastern Croatia)
and Orasje (Bosnia) is nearing completion. This bridge is full of
symbolic significance because it is vital that we rebuild bridges
in all fields.
Thank-you for your confidence, notes the text.
In reference to his resignation to the post of deputy president of
the Main Committee of the Croatian Democratic Union it says,
"Most respected Mr. President,
Please accept my irrevocable resignation as a deputy president of
the Main Committee of the Croatian Democratic Union.
Together in 1990, when you invited me into the Croatian Government,
when the Croatian state was being formed, we spent many a night and
day on that honourable road of which you were the main architect.
The Croatian state grew out of the suffering, sweat and blood of all
Croatian men and women in the homeland and abroad. Today, Croatia is
a stable, internationally recognised state and our reality is
valued by the world. It was worth the effort and struggle to achieve
all this.
And now, when Croatia is whole, the time has come for new challenges
and new people.
Perhaps the some of the newly attained gross capital has been
imposed to that measure which then influences the realisation of
political objectives, painfully protecting acquired positions.
In any case the marginalisation of current issues in our lives which
I questioned and which were discussed at the session of the National
Council on October 10 and October 14, reaffirm that by pointing out
incidents where authority is being usurped, has resulted in the
sanctioning of those who, in the interest of democratisation of
society, have pointed out these incidents and how to correct them.
Decisions such as the one adopted yesterday, October 14 in my
absence, leave no room for comment.
A logical result to this incident is my irrevocable resignation.
I am deeply convinced that a time of greater democratisation in our
political lives will come.
With sincere respects", concludes the letter of resignation
submitted by Greguric.
