CROATIAN RAILWAY WORKERS STOP ALL TRAFFIC FOR TWO HOURS

( Editorial: --> 9561 ) ZAGREB, Oct 19 (Hina) - Three Croatian Railway (HZ) Unions held a two-hour protest on Monday , regardless of Governments decision by which it should make payable to HZ funds for unpaid salaries. All traffic on the Croatian rail roads was interrupted from 10 a.m. until noon. The Government will remit US$ 16 million to the HZ and the salaries for September will be paid off on Tuesday, October 20, the office of the HZ's general manager reported on Monday morning. The HZ' administration have invited the workers and the HZ's unions to stop protesting. The protest was held after all for the Governments decision fulfils only a part of unions requests, said Darko Pavicevic, the president of the Croatian Railways Infrastructure Workers'. The jubilee rewards which should have been paid off in July and August as well as September's salaries are to be paid off. Croatian Rail Workers' Union, Croatian Engine-drivers' Union and Croatian Railway Infrastructure Workers' Union, also demanded to participate in enforcing a new law on Croatian Railways, a care programme for the surplus Labour, new hourly wage for the next year, amount of refund and Christmas bonus, communal insurance for work related injuries as well as the work condition and the protection at work.
