CRO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CREATES CRO PRO COMMITTEE

( Editorial: --> 2232 ) ZAGREB, Sept 22 (Hina) - As of Tuesday, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK) is expanded by the Croatian National PRO Committee, which is a constituent section of the Southeast European Cooperation Initiative (SECI). The PRO Committee's task is to establish a body in which government officials, together with interested companies, will eliminate difficulties in the free goods flow in international trade. HGK president Nadan Vidosevic said the PRO Committee would help Croatia improve its road traffic for goods and facilitate border and customs crossings for transport vehicles. Members of the Croatian PRO Committee include representatives from the Ministries of the Economy, Transport and Communications, Finance (Customs Administration), Foreign Affairs, the Association of Road Transport, and the Association of International Dispatchers within the HGK. Zlatan Froelich from the HGK has been appointed PRO Committee's first president. In a report released from the second meeting of the national PRO Committee of SECI countries held in Sophia last week, the director of the Trade Sector with the HGK Ruder Friganovic stated that cooperation between Croatia and SECI countries should represent a tie between markets with which Croatia deals most, Slovenia, Macedonia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. The founding session of the SECI was held in Geneva in early December 1996. It is technically supported by the Economic Commission for Europe at the UN. The idea behind creating PRO Committee's and the SECI initiated in the U.S. and the European Union. (Hina) sp jn/ha 221847 MET sep 98
