ZAGREB, Oct 15 (Hina) - The Croatian government on Thursday adopted
a decision on initiating the signing of an agreement with the
European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to ensure a
collateral for a project on the restructuring and bringing up-to-
date of Croatian Railways.
The time of repayment for the US$35 million loan is 15 years, with a
three-year grace period.
The government also adopted a bill which should ratify a European
agreement on the main international waterways crossing Croatia,
under which the Sava, Croatia's longest river, would become
navigable up to Sisak, 50km south-east of Zagreb, as would the
future Sava-Danube Canal in eastern Croatia.
This will enable Croatia to increase the transport advantages of
Zagreb, through which the Sava passes.
The international navigable waterway status in Croatia applies to
137km of the Danube and 14km of the Drava.
