LAST WITNESS IN SAKIC CASE TESTIFIES IN SPLIT

( Editorial: --> 8650 ) SPLIT, Oct 15 (Hina) - The investigating judge of the County Court in Zagreb, Zdenko Konjic on Thursday heard Abinum Jeska (78), the last of the five witnesses from the Split area to be questioned in the case against Dinko Sakic (former commander of the Jasenovac concentration camp during the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) 1941-1945). Jeska was in the camp from October of 1941 until April of 1945. Unofficial sources state that Jeska said he did not witness any executions, nor that he had any knowledge of when Dinko Sakic was the commander of the camp. The same source state that Jeska testified he saw that sick and weak prisoners were released from Jasenovac and did not return. Jeska testified behind closed doors. Present at the hearing were County State Attorney from Zagreb Radovan Santek and Sakic's attorney Ivan Kern.
