ZAGREB, 6 Oct (Hina)- Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic
received on Tuesday diplomatic representatives of the Contact
Group countries, i.e. France, the United Kingdom, the USA, Russia,
Germany and Italy, accredited in Croatia.
In a meeting, organised upon the initiative of the Contact Group,
the Minister was informed about the contents of a demarche handed to
the president of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia Slobodan
Milosevic and the Kosovo Albanian leader Ibrahim Rugova on 28
September and 29 September respectively, the Croatian Foreign
Ministry announced.
The demarche stresses that the Contact Group unanimously decided
that the FRY should comply with all the provisions of the UN
Security Council resolution no. 1119, which had been unanimously
supported by the Contact Group. The diplomats also emphasised that
in the future their countries would closely monitor the FRY's steps
regarding that matter.
Minister Granic pointed out that Croatia fully supported the
contents of the Resolution no. 1119, which it deemed important for
the resolution of the crisis in Kosovo. In that respect, Minister
Granic highlighted Croatia's backing of efforts for the resolution
of the crisis, which he described as very important for
establishment of a lasting peace settlement and security in the
region, especially for Croatia as a neighbouring country.
Representatives of the Contact Group stressed they would keep
informing Croatia about future steps for resolution of the crisis
in Kosovo, an announcement by the Foreign Ministry says.
