FORMER HRT BOSS APPOINTED HEAD OF CRO POST & TELECOMMUNICATIONS

( Editorial: --> 2874 ) ZAGREB, Sept 24 (Hina) - The Croatian Government at its closed session on Thursday appointed former Croatian Radio Television (HRT) director Ivica Mudrinic to head Croatian Post and Telecommunications (HPT). At the same time HPT director Stipe Hrkac has now been appointed president of the Croatian Privatisation Fund (HFP), whose former boss Tomislav Druzak has been relieved of his duties because of his new appointment at the Croatian Interior Ministry. Meanwhile, the Government has also accepted measures to financially consolidate firms in Croatia's eastern-most town of Ilok. These include Razvitak Ltd, Ilokturist Ltd, Agrokomerc Ltd, winemaker Vinarije Ilok and branches of Vupik Ltd Vukovar and DP Iteks. The accepted measures will guarantee the survival of production in the Town of Ilok area, and at the same time the social security of returnees to the town and its region. The Government also accepted measures for the rehabilitation of Rijeka shipping operator Croatia Line and approved measures for the restructuring of Varazdin textile producer Varteks Ltd. It also approved intervention funds for the payment of unpaid wages and a re-starting of basic production in agricultural-food producer Belje Ltd of Darda in eastern Croatia. Adopted by the Government was a report by a Croatian delegation on participation at a diplomatic conference for the establishment of the International Criminal Court in Rome. The Government authorised Deputy Prime Minister Ljerka Mintas- Hodak to go to Rome and on October 17 sign the statute of this court. It named Snjezana Plevko as Assistant Labour and Social Welfare Minister. Tomislav Penic was relieved of his post as Assistant Justice Minister and was named as the Justice Ministry secretary.
