ZAGREB, Sep 15 (Hina)- Employees of the agricultural combine Belje
will be paid all the overdue salaries for the past five months and
the combine will be included in the Government's programme for
rehabilitation of debt-riden companies, representatives of the
Belje's union told the press after a meeting with the Government on
Tuesday.
A union representative said the arrears for the employees, who have
cultivating an area of 22,000 hectares over the past few months,
amount to $US 6.5 million.
Out of 2,300 employees of Belje, there are 1,460 returnees and 600
volunteers of the Homeland war. Although the damages that the
combine suffered during the Serb aggression against Croatia and
occupation of its territory amount to about $US 1 million, the
Government has so far invested only about $US 30,000, which was used
for repair of the machinery.
The employees of Belje will not stop the production process so that
the preparations for the autumn cereal harvest could be completed
on time.
