OSIJEK, Sept 17 (Hina) - Osijek-Baranja County Prefect Srecko
Lovrincevic on Thursday informed the head of the UN civil police
support group mission to Croatia, Souren Seraydarian, about the
efforts this eastern Croatian county has been making towards the
realisation of a refugee return programme and the economic
revival.
According to a statement from the Prefect's office, Lovrincevic
acquainted Seraydarian with a programme for loan-granting to small
and medium-sized companies, and with the latest efforts aimed at
ensuring regular business in the Belje company, as the foundations
for the development of the Baranja region.
Lovrincevic was satisfied with the reconstruction of houses, but
said the process should be completed next year.
He added mine-clearing in the area was one of the key factors for the
normalisation of living.
Seraydarian was interested in the functioning of housing
commissions, which are in charge of resolving housing issues in the
return process.
A report on the security situation in Croatia which the UN
Secretary-General will submit to the Security Council next week
will recommend that the mandate of the UN civil police support group
in eastern Croatia be terminated on October 15, Seraydarian said.
The UN's role will be taken by the Organisation for Security and
Cooperation in Europe mission.
