NEGOSLAVCI, Aug 25 (Hina) - The newly-built wing of a primary school
in Negoslavci, a majority Serb village near Vukovar, was opened on
Tuesday.
The US Agency for International Development (USAID) invested US
$75,000 in the construction of the school.
Marking the end of construction works, the head of the USAID mission
to Croatia, Charles Aanenson, said the reintegration of the
Danubian area was of great importance for the US government.
We wish all people in the area, regardless of their nationality, a
peaceful and stable life, Aanenson said adding that one of the
reasons for USAID engagement in the Danubian area was the wish of
the US government for as many local residents as possible to remain
in the area.
The US government will continue to help in the reconstruction of the
area, especially through a programme of help for returnees and
loans, Aanenson said.
The opening of the new school wing was also attended by an UN Civil
Police Support Group representative Vinod Kapur.
The newly-reconstructed wing is one of the last of a total of 44
projects carried out within the USAID programme of village
democracy in eastern Slavonia.
