GOSPIC, Sept 7 (Hina) - Preparations for the forthcoming
international donors conference, the return of refugees and
displaced persons and the economic development of central
Croatia's Lika-Senj County was discussed on Monday between local
and Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE)
officials.
County Prefect Ante Frkovic told the head of the OSCE regional
office in Korenica, William Ozkaptan, that the return of Serb
refugees would be more efficient if another two to three
residential settlements with 7,000 to 8,000 housing units were
built in the county, one of Croatia's most sparsely populated
areas.
It is believed such settlements would be built in the Boricevac area
and near Korenica, while the international community should
support Croatia in their construction, Frkovic said.
The OSCE supported the concept of building housing settlements and
the method of economic development of the Lika-Senj County, with
agriculture and tourism as priorities, Ozkaptan said.
