NEW CROATIAN AMBASSADORS APPOINTED

( Editorial: --> 3827 ) ZAGREB, Aug 15 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman appointed several ambassadors and officials at the Foreign Ministry. The national gazette "Narodne Novine" ran these decisions in its August 11 issue. Zelimir Urban, Ivan Ilic and Neven Jurica were appointed as new ambassadors to Brazil, Austria and Norway, respectively. Urban, a former assistant to the foreign minister, is to go in office on September 2. Ilic was the Croatian Ambassador to Germany and has been performing the duty of Ambassador to Austria as of July 28, when the decision was made. Former Ambassador to Australia and New Zealand, and spokesman for the government, Neven Jurica, has began his duties in Oslo on July 28. Benjamin Tolic, a former minister advisor at the Croatian Embassy in Bonn and General Consul in Switzerland, has been appointed as ambassador at the Croatian Foreign Ministry. The decision takes effect on September 15. Danijel Bucan, the former Ambassador to Egypt, has been appointed as ambassador at the Croatian Foreign Ministry. The decision takes effect on September 15. The former head of the Foreign Ministry's Bilateral Economic Cooperation Department, Zeljko Kupresak, has been appointed as ambassador at the Croatian Foreign Ministry and assistant Foreign Minister. The decision takes effect on September 1. The former head of the Zagreb University, Marijan Sunjic, was appointed on July 23 as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Croatian Ambassador to Vatican.
