SERBIAN FORCES LAUNCH FIRST ATTACK ON PRIZREN

( Editorial: --> 8178 ) PRISTINA, July 17 (Hina) - Kosovo Albanian sources on Thursday reported that Serbian forces continued attacking many Kosovo villages, especially in Decane and Djakovica Municipalities in the border area towards Albania, but also in Prizren, where no clashes had previously taken place. Yesterday, clashes also took place in the Drenica area and north of Kosovska Mitrovica. The Kosovo Information Centre reported two killed Albanians from Decane. Democratic Alliance of Kosovo sources in Prizren reported that yesterday afternoon Serbian forces launched a heavy weaponry attack on the nearby village Tusus. There is no information on possible victims yet. The Pristina-based Serbian source Media Centre yesterday reported that a group of armed Albanians attacked a police patrol in Tusus to which the Serbian police responded. There were killed and wounded among the Albanians, the source said. The same source also reported that early Thursday morning Serbian forces killed and wounded several armed Albanians who during the night attacked Trepcin, a mine near Kosovska Mitrovica. Albanian sources from Srbica confirmed that an armed group of Albanians, members of the Kosovo Liberation Army, on Wednesday attacked a bus carrying Serbian policemen in the Drenica area, wounding 20.
