KOSOVO: HEAVY CLASHES REPORTED IN VILLAGES IN BORDER REGION

( Editorial: --> 6282 ) PRISTINA, July 7 (Hina) - The Kosovo Information Centre on Tuesday night reported that powerful attacks by Serbian forces were continuing on villages in the Djakovica municipality, on the Yugoslav border with Albania. There was no information on possible victims, but it was known that material damage was large during attacks over the past day and previous night. Local defence forces in cooperation with the Kosovo Liberation Army are said to have energetically responded to the attacks. Eyewitness reports said smoke and flames were seen in villages in the area. The Kosovo Information Centre also announced that during the past week, at least 11 Albanians had been killed and more wounded in the southern Yugoslav province. (Hina) mbr jn 072153 MET jul 98
