SERBIAN POLICE & CIVILIANS CONTINUE ATTACKING KOSOVO VILLAGES

( Editorial: --> 4418 ) PRISTINA, June 29 (Hina) - A 30-year-old man and a 12-year-old boy were killed while three Albanians aged 10 to 17 were wounded in a violent Sunday evening attack Serbian police and civilians directed on Drenoce, a village in Klina Municipality on the Pristina-Pec road, the Kosovo Information Centre (KIC) reported on Monday. It is feared the number of the killed and the wounded is much higher, the source said, emphasising Drenoce is still surrounded by Serbian forces. The Democratic Alliance of Kosovo in Klina warned about the possibility of a massacre in Drenoce due to many women, children and elderly people. Kosovo Albanian sources yesterday reported about battles between the Yugoslav army and the Kosovo Liberation Army near the village of Veliki Beleqevac, 20km west of Pristina, in the village of Prejlepe, and in villages of Djakovica Municipality bordering with Albania. Yesterday morning Serbian forces shelled border villages Nec, Smolica, Morina, Berjahe and Nivokaza. Gramacele, a village in Decane Municipality was also shelled. The KIC today reported that Serbian forces and civilians this morning launched attacks on Hade and Lismire, villages in Obilic Municipality, 15km west of Pristina. An eight-year-old Albanian boy was killed in attacks on Lismire. The village is surrounded by Serb snipers, the KIC said, emphasising women and children had not been evacuated and a mass- scale massacre is feared. Women and children were evacuated from the Hade village, while men remained to defend their houses. No information is available on possible victims. Kosovo sources believe Serbian forces will head toward Veliki Beleqevac, a village which is the site of Pristina's coalmine supplying Kosovo power plants. The village and coalmine have been under control of the Kosovo Liberation Army since last week. Last evening Serb forces shelled a coalmine building and wounded one man, Albanian forces reported today. According to unconfirmed reports, this morning the Yugoslav army blocked all access to Veliki Belaqevac and is getting ready for an attack. (hina) ha 291333 MET jun 98
