SARAJEVO, July 7 (Hina) - The Croat member of Bosnia's collective
Presidency Kresimir Zubak on Tuesday held talks with the special
United States envoy for the implementation of the Dayton peace
agreement Robert Gelbard.
Zubak and Gelbard discussed all current issues in Bosnia-
Herzegovina and the situation in the south Yugoslav province of
Kosovo.
A statement from Zubak's office said Gelbard reiterated the U.S.
unambiguous commitment to the implementation of the peace
agreement.
The U.S. government will do everything to preserve Bosnia, he said,
and this is the standpoint of not only the U.S. but the whole
international community.
While discussing the Bosnian situation ahead of the September
election, the U.S. special envoy supported the strengthening of
political pluralism. Its effect is already evident in the actions
of numerous parties, he said.
Zubak insisted that the restructuring of Bosnian television be
completed before the pre-electoral campaign.
Today's talks also focused on the return of displaced persons.
U.S. officials promised a more concrete engagement in order to
improve living conditions in central Bosnia, especially in
Travnik.
Zubak and Gelbard, who was accompanied by U.S. Ambassador to Bosnia
Richard Kauzlarich, also talked about the trials being conducted at
the international war crimes tribunal in The Hague.
Zubak advocated that the trials be stepped up.
