LAWS ON REFUGEE RETURN MUST BE APPLIED FULLY - HASELOCK

( Editorial: --> 3958 ) SARAJEVO, June 26 (Hina) - Simon Haselock, spokesman for the international High Representative, announced on Friday that pressures on the Croatian Government will continue for it to completely fulfill its commitments in regards to refugee return and to hasten that process. It is clear that the enablement of Serbs to return to Croatia is the key part which decides the dynamics of the total process of refugee return, Haselock told a press conference in Sarajevo. Haselock said it is good that laws have been drawn up which should enable that and that they will come into force. However, what is done in their practical application will only count in the end, he said. Those same expectations also count for Bosnia-Herzegovina where property laws must be applied in entirety, said Haselock. That especially relates to Republika Srpska which still needs to show a sign that the return of refugees has actually started. We also expect that in the establishment of a multi-ethnic police force, said Haselock. Republika Srpska is not a state just comprised of Serbs, but an entity which has a complex ethnic structure, he said. (hina) jn bag 261636 MET jun 98
