SARAJEVO, June 12 (Hina) - The Deputy High Representative in
Bosnia-Herzegovina, Hanns Schumacher, on Friday opened the
reconstructed building of the former Parliament of the Republic of
Bosnia-Herzegovina in Sarajevo.
The building will be the future headquarters of Bosnia's joint
bodies of authority.
At a ceremony attended by some members of the BH Council of
Ministers, Schumacher stressed that the reconstructed building of
the former Parliament should represent the place of dialogue and
reconciliation of all peoples in the country.
The building was constructed in the Sarajevo centre during the
1980s and before the war represented one of the most modern
buildings of its kind in the former Yugoslavia.
During the war, the Parliament building as well as the adjacent
skyscraper, which housed the government headquarters, was almost
fully destroyed.
For now, only one floor has been reconstructed and it will house the
Council of Ministers offices.
