"CROATIAN DAYS IN SARAJEVO" TO TAKE PLACE JUNE 2-7

( Editorial: --> 8046 ) SARAJEVO, June 1 (Hina) - The Croatian Embassy in Bosnia- Herzegovina and the Croatian Cultural Centre have organised "Croatian Days in Sarajevo", an event marking Croatia's Statehood Day, May 30. Organised for the third time, the event will take place between June 2 and 7, Croatia's Ambassador to BH Darinko Bago told reporters in Sarajevo Monday. This year the event will for the first time put a stronger accent on the promotion of tourism, as an increasing number of Bosnian citizens are interested in spending holidays on the Adriatic coast, Bago said. He pointed out one of the aims of "Croatian Days in Sarajevo" was to incite the advancement of Croatian-Bosnian relations. Croatia bases its relations with BH on a consistent implementation of the Washington and Dayton peace agreements, Bago said. He expected the initiatives of the Croatian President for the demilitarisation and consistent cantonisation of BH would meet with adequate attention. "The demilitarisation of BH would provide conditions for a considerably faster economic development of the country, while a consistent cantonisation, which is founded on the Dayton agreement, would contribute to decreasing tension between Croats and Bosniaks (Muslims), and would ensure a speedier refugee return", Croatia's Ambassador told reporters. Bago hoped the Bosnian Serb entity premier's visit to Zagreb on Tuesday would contribute to the commencement of cooperation between Croatia and the entity. The signing of a protocol on the return of refugees should be the first step to that end. (hina) ha/bag jn 011404 MET jun 98
