ZAGREB, May 21 (Hina) - The Croatian Employer's Association (HUP)
celebrated its 5th anniversary with a dinner at the Zagreb hotel
Inter-Continental on Wednesday.
On this occasion Croatian President Franjo Tudman, first HUP
president Ivica Todoric, and HUP founder, Hans Messser were
declared Honorary Members. Representatives from 17 companies were
given Diplomas for being foundation members HUP.
HUP is an independent and voluntary association of Croatian
employers and companies, which today gathers more than 2.700
companies employing more than 200.000 employees.
Along with celebrations a panel was held on the topic of the "role
and meaning of employers' associations - international
experiences".
Speaking at the panel were employers and government
representatives, International Employers Association Secretary
Jutta Ulbricht, German Federal Wholesale and Retail Trade
Association Director Peter Spray, and members from the Italian and
Austria associations.
The panel focused on the functions of employers' associations in a
parliamentary democracy and their role in transition countries.
