KNIN, May 13 (Hina) - Twenty one persons of Serb nationality are to
return from the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to the Croatian town
of Knin on Thursday.
Their return was organised by the Croatian government Office for
Displaced Persons and Returnees and the UN High Commission for
Refugees (UNHCR), head of the Office's branch in Knin, Nada Galiot,
said on Wednesday.
All returnees are Croatian citizens and have all necessary Croatian
documents.
The twenty one Serbs are the first group of Serb refugees to return
to Croatia under the initiative of the Serbian Helsinki Committee
for human rights, entitled "I Want to Go Home".
Chairwoman of the Committee, Sonja Biserko, said in Belgrade on
Tuesday that 50 families of Serb nationality are expected to return
to Knin under the Committee's organisation.
Head of the "I Want to Go Home" project, Jelena Milic, told
Belgrade's news agency BETA that the Serbian Helsinki Committee was
seeking donors "because refugees need help when they arrive,
because they have nothing waiting for them there, except for
damaged houses".
