DRVAR POLICE DETAIN ONE SUSPECT IN THURSDAY KILLING

( Editorial: --> 7545 ) LIVNO, April 17 (Hina) - Interrogations of several persons suspected of having killed two Serb returnees in Drvar on Thursday have been carried out and one person has been detained in Drvar police station, Assistant Interior Minister of Herzeg-Bosnia Canton Ivica Erceg told a press conference in Livno on Friday. The bodies of the Trninic couple were transported for autopsy to a pathology ward in Rajlovac outside Sarajevo, and not to Split, which was the usual practice in similar cases, Erceg added. This was done at the request of Deputy High Representative in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Jacques Klein, who visited Drvar (western Bosnia) yesterday. Erceg said that the Herzeg-Bosnia Canton and Drvar police have done their job professionally, and if necessary, they would seek help from the Federation Interior Ministry. He added he did not know the reasons why Klein demanded that the bodies be transported to Rajlovac and not to Split. Serb people who were returning to Drvar and whose return was organised by the international community, were not registering with a returnees' information centre which had been established in the municipal council, or with police and legitimate Drvar municipal authorities, Erceg said, adding the returnees were only registering with the UNHCR.
