PRISTINA, March 25 (Hina) - Brutal attacks of the Serbian police on
the village of Glodjane near Decani (a municipality on the border
with Albania) continued during last night and shooting could be
heard on Wednesday as well, local Kosovo Albanian sources reported
on Wednesday.
The president of the Decani branch of the Human Rights Committee,
Musa Berisha, said that six houses in Glodjani were torn down in
yesterday's police action. Several houses were still in flames, he
added.
Berisha said he feared for the safety of a group of Albanian
children from Glodjane, who were taken away by the Serbian police in
an unknown direction.
The Serbian Interior Ministry issued a statement saying that "one
police officer was killed and three were severely wounded in
yesterday's terrorist attack on a police patrol in the Decani
municipality".
According to the statement, two Albanians were killed in the
incident and Rasim Selmani, president of the Kosovo Democratic
Alliance branch in Glodjane, was arrested.
The statement said that police would continue the action against
"other members of the terrorist group", for whom it is claimed that
they were sent from Albania.
Albanian sources in Pristina say that the situation in Drenica is
also difficult.
At least 80 Albanians were killed in recent police attacks on
Drenica.
