PRISTINA, March 18 (Hina) - Shooting at a group of Kosovo Albanians
participating in a peaceful protest in Pec, Serbian police killed
Qerim Muriqi (aged 50) and wounded five other Albanians, the Kosovo
Committee for Human Rights and Freedoms said on Wednesday evening.
Twelve other demonstrators were beaten, the Committee said.
Several hundred thousand Kosovo Albanians staged peaceful protests
against the Serbian violence in a number of Kosovo towns, the
Committee reported.
The demonstrations in Pristina and other towns were completed
peacefully, while in Pec police opened fire on protesters.
Serbian police did not release a statement on the killing of one and
wounding of five other Albanians.
Radio Pristina reported that police were attacked in Pec and that
two Serbian police officers received minor injuries.
