PRISTINA, Mar 18 (Hina) - Kosovo Albanians Wednesday morning staged
half-hour peaceful demonstrations in Pristina and other towns in
this south Yugoslav province under the banner "Against Violence and
Serbian Terror, For Peace, Freedom and Independence".
No incidents occurred during the demonstrations and in Pristina
alone the turnout was 100,000 Albanians.
According to the Organisation Committee of the Democratic Alliance
of Kosovo's Youth Forum, demonstrations in other municipalities,
at which hundreds of thousands Albanians turned up, were also
successful.
The protesters carried banners saying "Stop Violence", "Serbian
Police Out of Kosovo", "We Seek NATO's Help", "Peace, Freedom and
Independence", cheered to Kosovo Albanian leader Ibrahim Rugova,
and waved American, Albanian and European Union flags.
