SARAJEVO, March 12 (Hina) - The Temporary Election Committee of the
organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE)
officially decided that the general election in Bosnia-Herzegovina
be held on the 12 and 13 September.
The citizens of Bosnia-Herzegovina will elect members of the
Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina, members of the Parliament of
Bosnia-Herzegovina, president and deputy president of Republika
Srpska, members of assemblies of the two entities and new canton
assemblies in the Bosnian Federation, OSCE spokesman in Sarajevo,
Dardan Gashi said Thursday.
Elections for municipal authorities in seven municipalities in
which elections could not be held last year for technical reasons
and which were established later, will also be held in September.
Municipal elections for the whole of Bosnia-Herzegovina were held
last October, but their results have still not been completely
implemented.
Through an arbitration decision which was brought by the Office of
the International High representative and OSCE, a Municipal
Council of Srebrenica was established on Thursday, making the
number of municipalities with legal authority, in accordance with
the election results, 120.
Westendorp's deputy, Hand Schumacher, said arbitration would be
necessary for seven other municipalities, and the remaining eight
municipalities would most probably be able to reach an agreement
themselves.
We expect the election results to be implemented. Our deadline is
now, Schumacher said.
