OSIJEK, Jan 19 (Hina) - The Osijek-Baranja County Association of
Returnees repeated its call for returnees to the Croatian Danube
River region to respect the process of organised, two-way return
and to restrain from provocations and not to be tricked into them.
At its meeting held on Monday evening, for the first time after the
end of the UNTAES mandate, the returnee representatives warned
about the difficulties in clearing mines in the Danube region and
the slowness of decision making on reconstruction.
Of 17,010 requests for reconstruction of homes, the county Office
for Urban Planning had approved only 2,966.
The President of the Committee for Return to Sarvas, Vlado Cerina,
said four returning families on Monday received the keys to homes in
this locality, while another 20 homes were able to be settled into
with minimal reconstruction.
