U.S. AMBASSADOR POSTPONES VISIT TO VUKOVAR DUE TO FOG

( Editorial: --> 3829 ) ZAGREB, Jan 12 (Hina) - The U.S. Ambassador to Croatia, William Montgomery, had to cancel his Monday visit to Vukovar due to fog. Today's visit to the eastern Croatian town was to be Montgomery's first official visit outside Zagreb. According to a statement by the U.S. Embassy in Zagreb, the ambassador chose Vukovar as his first destination due to significance of the area and the peaceful reintegration process. Montgomery is to visit Vukovar Thursday and attend a ceremony marking the end of the UNTAES mandate in eastern Croatia. He is looking forward to meeting officials of the Croatian Government, returnees to the area, and representatives of local Serbs, the statement said. (hina) ha jn 121355 MET jan 98
