BUDAPEST, Dec 18 (Hina) - On Minorities Day in Hungary, high decorations were presented to distinguished representatives of minorities in Hungary as well as to eminent Hungarians who live in neighbouring countries, at a ceremony
organised on Saturday (December 18) in Budapest.

decorations were presented to distinguished representatives of
minorities in Hungary as well as to eminent Hungarians who live in
neighbouring countries, at a ceremony organised on Saturday
(December 18) in Budapest.#L#
Decorations are conferred to individuals and groups for their
meritorious service in the education, culture and religious life of
minorities.
This year the medal was given to Petrovo Selo (Szentpeterfa), a
Croat-populated village in the north of Hungary, near the border
with Austria.
In 1999, Petrovo Selo was also proclaimed as the best village by the
Croatian organisation for Croatians who live outside the homeland
('Hrvatska Matica Iseljenika')
Hungarian Premier Viktor Orban delivered decorations to award-
winners, at the ceremony organised in the Parliament's building.
Present at the ceremony was Hungary's President Arpad Goencz.
