(SDSS) will forward a request to the National Electoral Commission
seeking Commission's official standpoint on alleged exclusion of
minority lists of the Serb national community from the general list
of voters, SDSS programme council president Milorad Pupovac told a
press conference on Wednesday.
According to him, members of the National Electoral Commission gave
contradictory information on minority lists, namely whether
members of national minorities would vote only for the minority
list or party lists as well. Pupovac stressed he had information
that minority lists were excluded, adding that, if this were true,
280,000 Serbs in Croatia would be denied their right to vote.
"Therefore the Serbian National Council demands that voters,
members of national minorities, be placed on the general voters
list, and verbally decide which lists they would vote for at a
polling station, which is in line with the constitution and the
Electoral Law", Pupovac said.
SDSS president Vojislav Stanimirovic called on the Croatian
authorities to enable displaced Serbs, currently living in the
Croatian Danube River region, to vote in line with the same system
as Croatian displaced persons from the region, currently living in
other parts of the country.
