LJUBLJANA, Dec 14 (Hina) - The Slovene parliament on Tuesday
ratified an agreement on property relations with Croatia, but once
again postponed the ratification of an agreement on local border
traffic and cooperation which was signed two and a half years ago.
All parliamentary parties endorsed the ratification of the
property relations agreement, which regulates the protection of
property of persons and institutions in Croatia and Slovenia
acquired in the former Yugoslav federation, namely before the two
countries achieved independence.
"The agreement opens new possibilities for future economic
cooperation," Slovene Foreign Minister Boris Frlec told
parliament.
The local border traffic and cooperation agreement was not ratified
despite a recent Slovene Foreign Ministry promise to the contrary,
following objections from Slovenia's People's Party and part of the
opposition which, despite opposite assurances from the Foreign
Ministry, believe the agreement would prejudge the state border.
