ZAGREB, Dec 3 (Hina) - During the first nine months of this year, 12.4 million vehicles entered Croatia via road border crossings. This was an increase of 8.6 percent as against the same period in 1998. From the beginning of January
to the end of September, 11.9 million cars left Croatia via border crossings, (or more by 6.5 percent than in the same period last year), according to figures released by Croatia's Statistical Office. The number of passengers who entered and left Croatia rose accordingly. In that period 37.2 million passengers came into and 34.8 came out of the country. According to the same sources, 1.9 million vehicles with Bosnia-Herzegovina's licence plates were registered entering Croatia in the first nine months of 1999. The number of passengers who travelled into Croatia by train
dropped by 15.4 percent to 548,000 while the number of passengers
who travelled out of Croatia by train decreased by 14.2 percent to
521,000 people in the first nine months of 1999.
Traffic over Croatia's sea border recorded a considerable drop in
number of passengers. Only 210,000 (or 47. 4 percent less)
passengers entered Croatia via the sea border in that period, while
193,000 passengers (47.8 percent less) left Croatia travelling by
ship.
In the first nine months of 1999, 441,000 passengers came in Croatia
by air, (10.5 percent less versus the same period in 1998) while
448,000 passengers (8.8 percent less) left Croatia in this way.
