International Day of Disabled People (December 3). The programme was drawn up by the State Institute for Family, Mother and Youth Protection in cooperation with other state institutions. standard of living of persons with disabilities, adopted by
Croatia's Government in the mid-October, was presented in Zagreb on
Wednesday on occasion of International Day of Disabled People
(December 3).
The programme was drawn up by the State Institute for Family, Mother
and Youth Protection in cooperation with other state
institutions.
The purpose of this project is to enable disabled persons to be
offered equal possibilities in education, recovery and
employment.
During the promotion, a Vice Premier, Ljerka Mintas-Hodak, said
Croatia had adopted many international regulations about rights of
persons with disabilities, whereas the Government had taken many
concrete measures for the improvement of the position of disabled
persons, primarily in the legislative field.
The National Programme, she added, will contribute to more
systematic implementation of this policy, as it binds state
institutions to incorporate programmes for disabled people in
their plans and to ensure money for such purpose.

persons and possible measures to be taken in different social
activities (public health, sports, education, employment and so
on.)
The head of the Government's Commission for Persons with
Disabilities, Zorislav Bobus said the tenth percent of Croatia's
population is invalids, according to figures of the World Health
Organisation (WHO),and by 2020 there will be 20 percent of disabled
persons in the entire population of Croatia.
The head of the State Institute for Family Protection Stefanija
Bortek-Knesaurek, pointed to good cooperation of this institute
with ministries, other state institutions and disabled persons'
associations.
After the presentation of the National Programme, a round table on
this matter was held in Zagreb.
