After being awarded as the best foreign movie at the U.S Festival
Woldfest Festival in Houston a week ago, and getting Grand Prix at
the international film festival in Haifa a month ago, this Croatia
film was the best at the Rome festival which lasted from 15 to 20
November, the Zagreb-based Interfilm reported on Sunday.
The jury of this festival, held under auspices of the European Film
Foundation 'Eurimages', consisted of directors of five well-known
European festivals in Paris, Istanbul, Amsterdam, Dortmund and
Haifa. The five-member jury proclaimed unanimously Ogresta's film
as the best among 14 European movies screened last week in Rome.
The second best film was "Yana's Friend" by Israeli director Arik
Kaplun, who won the first awards this year at festivals in the Czech
town of Karlovi Vary as well as in Jerusalem and Moscow.
The Croatian director Ogresta also won the Grand Prix "Amore e
Psiche" at the Rome festival last year when his film "Washed Out
(Isprani)" had been presented at that international event.
To date Ogresta has been awarded with seven Grand Prix and after the
latest award he will more easier receive financial assistance for
his future projects from European film foundations, reported
Interfilm.
