ZAGREB, Nov 16 (Hina) - "Peace in Srijemski Karlovci in 1699 and New Borders" is the topic of an international seminar organised by the Croatian History Institute in Zagreb on 18 and 19 November. The seminar is being held to mark the
300th anniversary of the signing in Srijemski Karlovci of a peace agreement between Austria, Venice, and the Turkish Empire on 26 January 1699. According to the organisers, the seminar will tackle the fundamental aspects of the history of Croatia and Southeast Europe in the period of the 1684-1699 Vienna War for liberation from Turkish rule, and the significance of the peace agreement for the establishment of borders in this region.
