RADIO AND TELEVISION COUNCIL POSTPONES ITS SESSION FOR TIME BEING

ZAGREB, Nov 15 (Hina) - A session of the Council for Radio and Television, due to be held on November 16, has been "postponed for the time being," reported the Council's head, Marko Sapunar on Monday, but he did not give reasons for the delay. The Council should have decided on the granting of television and radio concessions on that session. The biggest public interest has been aroused by a bid for the television concession for the City of Zagreb and Zagreb County. There are three candidates that have applied for this concession - OTV d.d., Gizmo promidzba d.o.o and TV Zagreb. Rumours have occurred that after ten years of broadcasting its programme, OTV will lose the concession and the TV Zagreb company will be given it. According to some speculation, the coach of the Croatian soccer national team, Ciro Blazevic and Croatian President Tudjman's son, Stjepan Tudjman, are behind that

OTV staff have threatened to call on their audience to organise public rallies in case this company loses the concession. The Council for Radio and Television, whose eight members out of nine have been recently elected by the Croatian National Sabor, replaced the former Telecommunications Council. (hina) mm ms
