ZAGREB, Oct 29 (Hina) - Austrian banks Erste Bank from Vienna and Steiermaerkische Bank from Graz which on Friday became officially the owners of 94.3 per cent of stock in the Commercial Bank from Zagreb, announced they would merge
this bank with the Bjelovar Bank, of which they are majority stock holders, by the end of next year. The management of both Austrian banks also said there was a possibility of them purchasing another Croatian bank should they see in it an interesting partner for the realisation of their long-term plans in Croatia. The Commercial and Bjelovar banks, led by the business policy of new, Austrian owners, will concentrate on transactions with citizens and small and middle-scale entrepreneurs.
