OSIJEK, Oct 6 (Hina) - The president of the parliamentary bench of the Croatian Social Liberal Party, Djurdja Adlesic, on Wednesday voiced scepticism in the possibility of an agreement with the ruling party on new electoral
legislation and rules of work of Croatian Radio and Television (HRT). Adlesic announced parliament president Vlatko Pavletic had called for Friday talks with parliamentary bench presidents in view of reaching consensus on new electoral legislation and HRT's work rules. "We have seen so far that the (ruling Croatian Democratic Union) HDZ hasn't engaged in negotiations openly. The motion to discuss HRT's work rules isn't acceptable either, because it is contrary to the May agreement on changes to the HRT Law," Adlesic told the press in Zagreb. She said the rule book on HRT's work, presented by HRT director Ivica Vrkic, was now also the motion of HDZ's parliamentary bench.
OSIJEK, Oct 6 (Hina) - The president of the parliamentary bench of
the Croatian Social Liberal Party, Djurdja Adlesic, on Wednesday
voiced scepticism in the possibility of an agreement with the
ruling party on new electoral legislation and rules of work of
Croatian Radio and Television (HRT).
Adlesic announced parliament president Vlatko Pavletic had called
for Friday talks with parliamentary bench presidents in view of
reaching consensus on new electoral legislation and HRT's work
rules.
"We have seen so far that the (ruling Croatian Democratic Union) HDZ
hasn't engaged in negotiations openly. The motion to discuss HRT's
work rules isn't acceptable either, because it is contrary to the
May agreement on changes to the HRT Law," Adlesic told the press in
Zagreb.
She said the rule book on HRT's work, presented by HRT director
Ivica Vrkic, was now also the motion of HDZ's parliamentary bench.
This, she added, showed their connection.
"The HDZ should speak about the previous demands of the Opposition
Six, and among else state its position regarding the resignations
of editors who are members and officials of the HDZ," Adlesic said.
"This parliament's mandate expires on 28 November at the latest,
therefore we demand an answer to what will happen if the President
of the Republic, of whose state of health we know nothing, is
incapable of leading the state until a new parliament is
constituted," she said.
Adlesic reminded the parliament's Presidency yesterday requested
an interpretation of the matter by the Committee for the
Constitution, Rules of Procedure, and Political system. She
stressed that in the stated case, "it must not be allowed that
authority and control in the state be taken over by para-state
bodies as the Council for Defence and National Security."
