1,633 INTERNATIONAL POLICE OFFICERS DEPLOYED IN KOSOVO

PRISTINA, Oct 12 (Hina) - A total of 1,633 police officers from 38 countries have been deployed in Kosovo, of whom 633 in the province's capital Pristina, a representative of the international police in Kosovo, Michael Jorsback, told reporters on Tuesday. The U.N. civil mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) has requested the deployment of at least 6,000 police officers but it was decided that 3,155 policemen be deployed in the province for the time being. Ten special police units will also operate in Kosovo, securing large public institutions and safeguarding UNMIK headquarters. The first generation of about 200 Kosovo police officers, including ten Serbs, will soon leave the police academy in Vucitrn. A total of 3,500 police officers will be educated and trained at this academy.(hina) mm rml
