SARAJEVO, Sept 30 (Hina) - The U.N. Mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina
on Thursday expressed concern because of the restrictive border
regime Croatia has been applying to persons wishing to enter the
country via a border pass between the southern Bosnia-Herzegovina
town of Trebinje and Dubrovnik, Mission spokesman Douglas Coffman
told reporters on Thursday.
Speaking at a press conference in Sarajevo, Coffman said the
Croatian police were applying measures of controlling passengers
and vehicles at the Brgat border crossing which were not being
applied at any other border pass between Croatia and Bosnia.
The U.N. Mission believes these measures are inappropriate and are
preventing the necessary freedom of movement.
The Croatian Government has therefore been requested to see that
police officers at Brgat stop applying this procedure and harmonise
their acts with those in force at other border passes.
Tanya Domi, spokeswoman for the Organisation for Security and
Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina said
the issue would also be addressed by the OSCE Mission in Croatia.
OSCE Mission head in Bosnia Robert Barry today discussed the
problem with local officials in Trebinje.
